So it just occurred to me that I probably never posted about how my heart was broken when I got this email while in Chicago a couple of weeks ago.
Yeah — this is the race I fell in love with last year (and PR’d) and my husband is running the full, so I really wanted to get in. But just as I was wallowing in my own self pity, I remembered something. Not getting into Grandma’s meant I could run the Women’s Running Bloomington Half Marathon the weekend before!
This is all sorts of awesome for the following reasons:
- I wanted to run the race last year but it didn’t line up with my marathon training and I had a wedding the night before.
- Race expos are about my favorite thing in the world and this race has a two-day, women-focused health and fitness “expotique” that’s supposed to be pretty awesome. So I’m excited about that.
- Finally — and this might be the most important reason — it benefits Girls on the Run Twin Cities!
And — in even more exciting news, I’ve signed on to be a Runspirational for the race! So I’ll be posting all about my training and other fun stuff related to the race.
Oh, and if you’re local and even considering a half marathon this year, you should sign up and join me! Use the code “BALANCE” (without the quotation marks) and get $10 off your registration fee. (Price goes up after 3/31!) OR join the Fitfluential #BeAmazing Twitter chat tonight and you could win one of two free race entries (to any remaining 2013 Women’s Running Series event!) Details here.

I have the opposite problem! I got into the Garry Bjorklund half but I can’t run the Bloomington half… because… well.. the other one. Any ways I live in Bloomington and I’ll be there cheering every one on! Good luck!
