Tomorrow I’m running the Get Lucky 7k! In honor of the occasion, I’ve decided to wear this to the race:
I don’t think I’ll be “racing” this one. We’ll see. I’ll leave it up to my friend that I’m running it with
Today it’s freezing rain and snowing in Minneapolis, but tomorrow looks decent — 27 and partly cloudy. I can live with that. I’m going to use the Runner’s World “What to Wear” tool that Hilary posted about to help me pick my race outfit.
This morning, I drove on the ice-covered roads to meet some friends at Al’s Breakfast. I had only been there once, but it’s definitely a Minneapolis classic. It’s super small and narrow and is located on the University of Minnesota (my alma mater!) campus. There’s 14 stools along the counter and when people leave, you slide down to make room for the people who are waiting in line behind you. It’s been featured on lots of Food Network and Travel Channel shows.
I’ve had a pretty low key running week — been extra cautious about my foot. There’s not pain anymore, but I was still feeling “something” early in the week, so I decided to take a day or two off from running. So far, the week has looked like this:
Monday – REST
Tuesday – step mill intervals and walking on the treadmill
Wednesday – intense barre class
Thursday – 4x700s at 7:47 pace with a one mile warm up at 9:40 pace.
Yesterday’s run felt pretty strong so I’m taking today off (from running) just to be safe and have my race tomorrow! Gotta make sure I’m in tip top shape for the race I JUST signed up for that’s less than one month away!
Ever been to a breakfast place like Al’s?

There’s a place in my hometown of Winnipeg, due north of you, called The Falafel Place, that is like that. If you sit at the counter, you leave smelling of cooking!
Good luck this weekend!

Mmmm — I love falafel! And yes, that’s what this is like, too. I had to change clothes/shower again when I got home.
Thanks!

You know… I worked in Dinkytown as a hairstylist for almost 15 years and only ate there once! It was good but I never wanted to wait. Now they are tearing down most of that block for more apartments with retail space on the ground level!

Too funny! I think that’s why I had never been back before (until today). But now I know that if I ever want to go back, I need to go early!!!

Good luck tomorrow, Hyedi! Love that nail polish
I have yet to brunch at Al’s… worth the wait?

Thanks, Erin!
I think so. Especially if you’re in the mood for a classic (somewhat greasy) breakfast
