Building Strength 5K: race recap

What an absolutely PERFECT day for a fall race!

See what I mean?

Since I wasn’t really “racing” today, I opted for a banana and a mini Oatmeal Raisin Clif Bar instead of my usual two-ingredient pancake. J and I arrived around 8 a.m., to a great turnout! I spent the next few minutes meeting some of J’s co-workers who had organized the race.

(This race benefited a new mental health facility that J’s work is building.)

We met up with our awesome friends who came out to support the cause and run/walk. Thanks so much, Matt, Jen, Stef, Katrina, Erin and Andrea!

The course was two loops through the beautiful Battle Creek Park. I had decided a long time ago to take it easy and just get some slow, easy miles in — and I did, and it was wonderful I ran with my friends Andrea (way to go on your first 5K!) and Jen. It was such a beautiful morning to run and chat with a friend. Although there was the minor bummer of looking at my Garmin and seeing that they must have miscalculated the distance of the course (it was almost .5 miles short of a 5K) it was a really fun race.

After the race, we all met up again and congratulated Erin on her fourth place finish overall! And my husband, for WINNING the entire race!

The rest of the day was busy, but great. I met up with my BFF from LA for lunch and then got my hair done! It was an expensive trip to the salon, but I absolutely love it.

My stylist and friend, Jes, is a genius. I still can’t thank Erin enough for recommending her!

Couldn’t bring myself to pay for a cut today also, but I desperately need one. Another trip back to see Jes with my next paycheck 🙂

The grand opening party for Revolution Cycle Saturday night was SO MUCH FUN! I definitely needed a quick 30 min nap before my friends Jen and Andrea showed up at my house to head over to the Urban Eatery, where the party was being held. It was so much fun to see how far the studio has come and the founder Dawn’s hard work paying off. We danced until 1 a.m. which was just what I needed.

My alarm came around way too early and it was time to get up, make a two-ingredient pancake, stop at the grocery store to get snacks to share (bananas and white cheddar Pirate’s Booty — balanced snack, right?) and then head to the Girls on the Run retreat. More on that later!

I can’t believe the marathon is only one week away! Hope you all had a great weekend — stay tuned for the Naked Sports Gear sports bra review and giveaway later this week!
